The world will tell you that you can’t have a family and have a successful career. They are so wrong. There are many misconceptions when it comes to balancing children and a professional life. Here are a few.

Equal Time

Most of our day is spent at work. We have to make a living. That does not mean that your family is not the most important. Making the time you do get as family quality time is what will make the difference. Don’t take the time at home for granted.

Getting Help

Trying to be a super parent and the star employee will only result in exhaustion. Don’t be prideful about asking for help. Find a support system. There are not enough hours in the day to do everything for everyone. Having people to back you up will take the pressure off. When you know both areas of your life are taken care of, you can relax and enjoy both.

Neglecting Yourself

Everyone needs time for themselves. Many believe that the time spent away from the family at work is a break. It is not! Work time is time away, but it’s not a time for yourself. Work is just another set of people needing things from you. Taking time for yourself is not a bad thing. It will make you a better parent and a better employee.

Don’t listen to those that tell you that you can’t have it all. You can!
