Motivation can be fleeting. We start strong, and then slowly, we see it slipping away. Keeping momentum is not always an easy task. This goes for goals in our personal life and assignments in our professional life. These tips for staying motivated can apply to either situation.
Break it Down
Take the assignment and break it into smaller ones. When the job seems to big, it is hard to get the motivation to start it. Outline each task that needs to completed in the project. Taking the mountain of work and breaking it into multiple hills will help you visualize it as less work. Making it easier to accomplish.
More Deadlines
Now that you have smaller tasks outlined give yourself a timeline. Have a date picked that you want to be done with each of the little hills you made. Then write them down. Write them on your calendar so that you won’t overlook them. The end deadline may be the most important, but you need to treat your timeline the same.
Reward Yourself
Don’t just reward yourself at the end! As you hit each of your timeline goals, give yourself a treat. Make the reward something you enjoy. You can’t trick yourself. Knowing there is something good coming will keep you motivated until you have climbed to the top of the mountain.
Reaching your personal weight loss goal of finishing a massive project at work will be a breeze once you learn to keep your motivation going.
