Sitting down to write a resume is the first step in landing the perfect job. The skills you state you have are a big part of catching their attention. There are two types, soft skills, and hard skills. Both are useful in creating an eye-catching resume.

Soft Skills

Soft skills are essential in any industry. Whether you are looking to work from home or in a large office, similar skills are needed. Communication and being detailed oriented looks good on every resume. Another top ability is problem-solving. All employers want to hire those that can handle things on their own.

Hard Skills

Hard skills are specific to the job that you are applying for. Skills that you have been trained to do or learned on the job. Including any degrees or certificates in the field. Mentioning also any volunteer work done that you feel relevant. Having a good list will show that you are the most capable candidate.

Which is Best

An equal mix of both types of skills needs to listed for the best resume. Soft skills show the kind of person you are, and hard skills tell them what you can do. Only adding soft skills will make you a kind person but not qualified. Using hard skills will make you qualified but unsure of how you will fit in.

Get your list of skills ready and check them twice. Balance your resume with soft and hard skills to impress your future employer.
